#1 - The people that have helped shape my world views would definately be my parents and my church family. I don't know that I've been disillusioned in any way, but I'm definately nieve to the things of this world. I've been completely sheltered in many different ways. In some ways it has disappointed me, but in other ways I'm thankful for it. It makes me doubt people for who they really are sometimes. I'm more cautious of their intentions and it hard for me to really trust people bc I've been lied to in the past...bc I use to believe what others always told me lol I guess I've now started to reevaluate the world as more of an evil place then a wonderful one.
#2-
* Hazel : we have the same color eyes
*My Family: because they are the only people who keep my secrets
*Bluegreen: It looks that way to me lol
*Of course: I've been taught that there is a heaven if you're saved
*Absolutely: You never have the right to take something that isnt yours
*I don't so: I just don't believe in aliens :)

Writing Prompts
1. The first movie that comes to mind is " The Strangers." This movie is about a couple who is killed while staying in one of their parents weekend home. This movie was definately enhanced to me because it was based on a true story. The killers were also never caught. I was freaked out for weeks!!!!!
2. I would explain the semi-truths throughout the book as a way for the narrator of each story to tell what really happened in a strange way. Its harder to tell the real truth..so it would basically be a distorted version of the truth. I would tell future readers to pay attention to the minor characters bc they play a bigger role than you think and to also try to and remember each story bc they intertwine throughout the entire book.
4. My favorite story was the Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong. I always choose to read love stories and this was the love story in the book. I suppose thats why its my favorite..plus it was the most intersting to me. The story that I just hated with a passion was Rainy River. I realize that its a very important story to the book but I thought it was just flat out BORING!!! I think I identify most with Kiowa bc he is so religious. Throughout the way he carries a bible and speaks about God. I think that if I were in the war God would def. be my rock the whole way through. There really wasnt a character that I disliked for the most part I felt that every character was necessary to bring the book together as a whole and to keep it interesting.
6.
7. No, I dont' really come away with any new ideas about truths. Although, I have to say that I was very upset when I figured out that the stories were not truth lol I do believe that this book is a true war story bc it was a way for the author to write about how he felt without totally reliving all the things that happened during the war. Yes, I would recommend this to other people bc its one of the few books that i actually enjoyed reading for school. :)

Story vs. Essay/ Heart In Conflict
Story Vs. Essay-
Recently I saw The Blind Side, its a heart warming story about a wealthy white family who takes in a poor black teen. Through the movie this family clothes, feeds, and sends the boy to school. I guess the real truth behind this movie would be the fact that if most people around the world would show compassion like that when they could the world would be a much better place.
Heart In Conflict-
The latest book I read was Dear John. John is the protagonist within the book and he falls madly in love with Savannah. After only weeks of being with her he is shipped off to Iraq. John describes different scenes from war and the heartache that he feels from being away from Savannah. By using a this technique its almost as if the reader feels the hurt and pain that John goes through.

Things Carried
1. Keys
2. Purse/ wallet
3. Bookbag/ books
4. hand sanitizer
5. Lip stick
6. gum
7. money
By the things that I carry many people would say that I am an average female college student. Some of the items I carry are essential for my day..keys to drive..books to learn...bookbag to carry all the books..and money for lunch. Gum, lip stick, and hand sanitizer would def. be for piece of mind lol Of course they items I carry bring back memories bc I carry these things everyday. I could come up with countless stories that involve the simple items I take with me.

3rd English 1101 Essay...battle of the princesses :)
Cinderella vs. Snow White
Walt Disney is famous for many children’s movies produced in the early 1930’s to present day. As a little girl, Disney brings to life the wonderful world of princesses. Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, and Jasmine are just a few, but I believe the best ones are Cinderella and Snow White. In the tale of both Cinderella and Snow White these princesses are made to be household slaves by their wicked stepmothers who are jealous of their beauty. Cinderella and Snow White eventually out whit their stepmothers by the help of unusual characters who befriend the princesses. By the end of the stories both princesses ride away into the sunset with their Prince Charmings and live happily ever after. For these two princesses life is pretty much the same with a few differences which can be revealed by a deeper look into their lives.
Cinderella and Snow White both end up deceiving their stepmothers in their stories just in different ways. Cinderella is made to “make the fire, fix the breakfast
wash the dishes, do the mopping” when all she wants is to go to the ball. She wishes this so badly that she receives a Fairy Godmother who helps her fulfill her wish. The Godmother changes a pumpkin into a carriage and her rag dress to a beautiful gown. While Snow White on the other hand escapes a graver reality by almost being killed, but gets set free by her executioner. Instead he brings the queen back a pig heart instead of Snow Whites.
As in most princess stories the princess has a helper or a friend who is always there. In Cinderella’s case it’s the little mice that live upstairs in the attic with her. Together the mice work to retrieve the key from Cinderella’s evil stepmother to set her free from the highest tower in the castle. Snow White’s case is a little different; when she runs away from the castle she finds a cottage. In the cottage live seven little me, she begins to cook and clean for them in return for a place to live. When her evil stepmother tricks her into eating the poisoned apple the seven dwarfs build her a glass coffin until Prince Charming finds her.
As in most wonderful Disney movies these two stories have happy endings. Both princesses find their Prince Charming and ride off on a white horse. How they find them or more or less how the princes find them is quite different. When Cinderella went to the ball she dropped her glass slipper at midnight. The prince rode all through the village looking for the woman who owned the shoe. Finally showing up at Cinderella’s castle her evil stepmother locks her in the tower; her mice then let her out to try on the shoe. When the prince saw that it fit her took her away and married her. Snow white is tricked by the evil stepmother and put under a spell. That only loves first kiss could awaken her from the eternal slumber. As the prince is riding through the forest he spots the princess in the glass coffin. He is so captivated by her beauty that he kisses her and she wakes to find him staring at her. They fall in love instantly and ride off together, happily ever after!
Disney has made many wonderful movies over the years. It just seems that none have really ever beat the love stories of the beautiful princesses all little girls wish to be. Through the years Disney has created more princesses such as Mulan and the new Princess and the Frog. Yet, the story line basically always stays the same. It’s always back to mean stepmother, wonderful friends, and a happily ever after. It was once said “ Good things never change.”

2 down...3 more to go!
This essay to me was by far the easiest! It just seems like once I figured out my topic the words just flew onto the page. The most difficult thing for me was still trying to figure out what to write about. I actually asked my friends and family...believe it or not my grandma gave me the idea. So to new 1101 students I would suggest that if you're struggling with the topic don't be afraid to ask for help or ideas.
I actually really like the blogs. On my last paper I got good reviews but nothing really helped me. On this paper though one girl gave me a great review. I went back and looked over my paper and even changed what she suggested. I was surprised at my own ability when it came to writing the paper. I didn't think i was a great writer..but really I'm not so bad. Writing on the blogs and posting essays has given me tons of confidence in my writing.
